Today, Leo suffered the blow from my tired, overworked bear of a boyfriend.
It of course was an accident- but Leo made the most horrible noise and I
have been cradling him ever since. The noise he made sounded very much
like a squeaky toy, high-pitched and gravely.
He seems okay on the outside, but it's his insides that I'm worried about,
the most.
I have already made an appt. at the vet- but he won't be able to get checked
out until monday- as the veteranarian that specializes in 'exotic pets' will not
be in until Monday afternoon. I'm afraid of losing him.
Any outward signs I should be afraid of? (Twitching, awry noises, etc?)
I want to make sure I can nurse him through the trauma he suffered, today.
Needless to say, Leo will not be wondering away from me more than two
inches- for the next I don't know: FOREVER?!
There is nothing you can do for him at the moment. Just observe him and report anything unusual to the vet on Monday. Good luck.
What happened what did he hit?
Hi, So what actually happened.
Ive heard frogs make a screaming type sound like you mentioned and its usually when threatened. It doesn't mean there's something wrong with him/her.
Well, this is what happened.
Leo was nestled in my shirt- because I didn't want him getting cold.
It's chilly in my house so he usually crawls in there when I hold him.
When I got to my boyfriend, he was asleep- so I tried to wake him up.
Obviously the first instinct of his is to reach out and swat at what ever
is bothering him- and he ended up striking Leo. Right on impact, he squeaked
and leapt away from the danger. I grabbed him away and ran off somewhere
to check and be sure he was alright.
I hope you are right- but I just wish I knew how hard he'd been hit.
xP
Maybe I'm worrying over nothing, he seems okay right now.
But still- vet on Monday.
Oh..how awful for you. I think your right, its a good idea to check him out just in case. Hows he doing? Does he appear to be different in his behaviour at all? If not then I think thats a good sign.
Well- after a short meeting with the vet, and
a fecal examination. Leonidas is okay; and he's as
healthy as ever. The veterenarian said that the
noise Leo made was probably just a defense squeak. (Like Ebony said)
His insides seem to be a-okay; and he's alert and eating
normally.
I am so happy that he is okay.
Thank you all for your support and advice. I appreciate it.
And Ebony, he's a lovely shade of jade green
with no recent physical abnormalities. As far
as the vet is concerned- he is a perfectly healthy
juevenile White's Tree Frog. Just a little shaken up,
if anything.
Thanks again, everybody!![]()
That's great news. Thanks for letting us know.
Glad Leo is goodI know that sound, it's like a loud sqauk/QUACK sound. I hear it once and a while from one of my white's when they get upset. I wish I knew what it was that causes this, but usually I'm asleep and the sound wakes me up.
I'm glad all is well.![]()
Yay. Mine never makes any noises.
Baudrillard squeaked...after Luigi jumped on his head.
