    Default painting your viv

    im painting the outside of my viv to hide the egg crate and some of the great stuff. if any of you guys do this what type of paint do you use?

    I bought a couple of Black Silicone tubes and did the whole inside and within 24 hours it cures and is non toxic.

    i used black silicon of the back and the sides. but now i have to do the bottom and the sides of the front. and its too late to do it from the inside...

    did you make your eggcrate go all the way to the sides of the tank? When i did mine i made the floor so that it stopped short of the sides and front so that i could fill that part in with pea gravel. Here's a picture to show you what i mean



    And here it is with the pea gravel



    If you made your's to all the way to sides all around and can't silicone the inside now, I'd say maybe use some black spray paint or black construction paper of some kind

    Hi Graham,
    Check out post # 30 on this thread. This paint worked very well ( on the outside). It's inexpensive.
    has been about a month since I did it with excellent adherence !
    If I were to scrape it with a single edge razor; it might come off - but with difficulty.

    It's called "Martha Stewart" multi surface - Satin- acrylic craft paint .
    It is available in satin, gloss and a zillion colors.
    Directions state: "cure 21 days- top-rack dishwater".
    So, My thought was that it was different then the other craft paints.

    i did leave space between the egg crate and the walls but i still wanted to cover it. i bought black spray paint. hope it works! thank you very much!

    thank you for the help lynn! if the spray paint doesn't work out i will try it. and i will be building more vivs soon so i will be able to try your way out!
