Hey I am trying to plan a new north American tree frog tank green, grey and maybe barking. I would like to have a water pool in the front along with live plants but I am not sure of the best way to hold the water back that look nice. If anyone has any tips and pics it would be very welcome.
really depends on how you want to attack it really. You could make a false bottom where the water is stored under the substrate in the hidden bottom and filter it with a canister filter. Or you could section off a water area with glass and put a pump in the actual pond area. How big of a pool you talking here? small portion or large area
I wanted to do something like this.

well i guess yo ushould tell us what size tank you are going to use first. Lynn's is nice because she sectioned off the water with glass so she won't have to worry about the substrate getting soggy from water. The exo terra picture you showed is a full bottom of water. If you have a big tank i'd say silicone some glass in like Lynn did but her tank is 36" long
I am going to use 24” x 18” x 24”
and you want the front half all the way across to be water? so roughly a 24x9 inch water area in the front and a 24x9 inch in the back?
I have decided not to do the water area because the tank is not large enough. I was wondering though for the heat panel I have always put them on the bottom but I am wondering if it would be better to put it on the back wall. My question is would this still work or would the cork bark or foam background prevent it from working?
