New to the Hobby, Viv Questions Please Help!

I was wondering what the process is of planting the plants. Maybe what layer of substrate, etc. If you do the substrate setup withe the Hydroton at the bottom, substrate liner, the blend, and long fiber spagnum, leaf litter, where do you plant the plants?? Do you keep the plants in their pots??

some people keep them in pots other's dont, it's up to you really... I took mine out of the pots in hopes that they would grow and take over the tank
