I was just wondering what you guys thought about feeding fish to Pacmans. I've read that mammal protein is hard for them to digest, but I don't see anything about fish. I fed my albino pacman a medium size minnow a couple of weeks ago. As of right now I was only thinking of feeding fish every few weeks for added variety. I will not feed goldfish as they are extremely high producers of ammonia and sickly. What are everyone's thoughts on this?
They are fine as a treat. Problem with feeding fish is knowing how their kept and if they come from a clean environment or not. A lot of pet stores recycle the water through not just one tank, but almost all feeder fish tanks so they are all using the sam water which of course leads to disease and parasites. These can inturn be passed on to your frog and make it sick. Its risky buisness if you are not sure that they come from a clean and parasite free environment. Gold fish are just all bad. Minnows/guppies/rosies/and comets are the usual feeder fish with Minnows and guppies being best.
We will feed fish on occasion, but when we do, we use Mollys & Guppies. I know they are not considered feeder fish in the stores, but they are the healthiest choices. We only feed fish for variety, and not as a staple.
Thank you both for the replies! I was on the right track then. I'll use them as a treat.![]()
