My white's loves to catch his own food, but because his enclosure is so full of plants, it's hard for me to know if he's getting enough or if he's eating right away after the crickets are dusted. The glass bowl feeding method works great (just search the forum for tips). Get a small glass bowl (about 2" deep and wide) to put the crickets in, they don't usually jump out. This has proven to be a great way for me to monitor the amount of food my white's consumes.
When I feed worms, I just dangle the worm in front of his face with my fingers, and he gobbles them up! I have not had good luck with placing the worms in a dish, my frog doesn't eat the worms from the dish and they usually find a way out into his substrate.
I never use tongs if I hand feed, I find it easier to just use my fingers!
