I really can’t tell if this is inflamed or not. Input would be great. Willow on the left is the one I'm concerned about. River on the right looks normal. I didn't know if maybe the males just have heavier legs?

You may want to rewrite which side is Willow with the concerns and which side is River who looks normal

Kristen – already done, thanks. ;o)

Cam, thank you. I've raised them from tads last year and I get a bit panicked if something looks a little off. I ran over to my neighbors and she said that her frogs look a little on the red side once in awhile, but then the next day every thing is all whiter. I wonder if climbing and jumping around on the fake vines might irritate their soft skin. Great, just another thing for me to worry about, chaffing!!

Fake vines chafing could be possible if they're rough, but I do find after climbing on the glass the hindquarters of my frogs tend to go a little red like your pictures.

Apart from ensuring there are lots of other nice climbing alternatives (are you opposed to live plants?), I'm not sure what else can encourage them to stay off the glass. Mine tend to climb the glass neurotically during thunderstorms, so some sort of local weather control would be a good plan.

Brian, I do have live plants, natural branches and the fake vines that run throughout the viv. (pics in album) And we are having rain and possible strong thunder storms today which would explain more activity, hmmmm. Which may also explains why Rufus my toad was having a fit last night. I'm just happy that all seems to

Oh, don't get me wrong, they love the vines. I noticed an increase in activity once I put them in. I just hope the roughness of the fake vine isn't irritating their skin. But so far the response is that they look normal. Yeah for me and the frogs!!

    Gail,
    Cute little cubbas!
I do not keep these frogs.
However, that pink coloration does vary ( with red eye tree frogs) depending on how "smooshed" ( is that a word ?) against the glass they are!

yes smooshed is a word ;o) and it just sorta caught my eye when he was up against the glass. Since I moved them to the new exo terra they are more active.

I have to agree. My retf's look white unless they squoosh tightly on the glass. Then they have a pinkish hue, which goes away again when they leave the glass .

I admit I kinda panicked when I saw his legs lookin' a little reddish. And the first thing that popped into my head was “red-leg”. So for a few days I watched him like a hawk and everything is normal. I tell ya, if it wasn't for this forum I think I would have gone off the deep end with worry!!

I felt the same way . Just watch, so long as the "redness" isn't there when they're off the glass and they are eating, pooping, peeing and behaving properly, they should be fine .

He hasn't changed his behavior at all. Still eats, calls, poops, pees & now knows where the door is and he's a real stinker about getting out. He doesn't hesitate to jump on my arm and start running up it. Then take a leap to my face. One time he landed right on my lips. Good thing I had my mouth closed for once!!
