so im going to be buying a pixie frog soon, and i have a bulb that i use to use for my bearded dragon and figured out that it was definately not hot enough for him, but now im thinking itd be good for a pixie frog. it will easily get the heat up to 80°F, but the only thing im worried about is the humidity since i know heat lamps kill the humidity. i would hate to get a pixie frog and not be able to get the proper humidity and heat for it so id like to hear what you guys think on this so i can make any preperations needed before i buy the frog. thanks
if you have a metal screen top cover it w aluminum foil. cut a hole exactly the size of the heat lamp fixture. this will keep your humidity up easily. Iv done this for many years. be carful because your heat will increase as well. do some testing w a good thermometer before your frog is in the tank.![]()

ill try the aluminum foil thing tommorow and set everything up and check everything so i know beforehand since i geuss it wouldnt be good to test it with the frog in there. im pretty sure the heat wont get too high since im thinking i will use a red nighttime bulb for him since the other bulb could be too hot, but ill check everything out first. also how much of a drop in tempeture should the tank have at night? could i just use the red bulb all the time for him to make things easier?
ya depending on how hot your tank is getting in the test runs w that red bulb and aluminum foil. it would prob be fine to keep it on

yea im thinking that because my house really drops in tempeture in the night anyway so that should make enough of a decrease in the tank to make it good.ill do a test run today and hopefully tommorow i can pick up my frog. thanks for the help i think im ready to get my frog, now just gotta wait for it to come in at the store. ill post pictures on this forum as soon i get it!
test run was succesfull! got the heat up good with my red bulb at around 80°F and the humidity is good to. the aluminum foil thing worked great for getting the heat up nicely and getting the humidity up. thanks again for all the help!
can u put a picture of your work? i want to see this aluminium foil on lamp![]()
lol ill post it up today for you, it is actualy a pretty cool setup that works well!
