I gotta question.
I use a rack for my snakes, but my room has to be pretty warm in order for it to hold temps properly. What is the ambient temp of the room they're in?

Room temp is probably 70 degrees. My rack holds heat well.
Very cool!!
Thats about the average temp of my house...I wish I didn't see this, now I want to make one and fill it up lol
What size heat tape do you use?
11 inch
so im going to be buying my little rack from walmart this week and i will be using heat pads on the back or bottom? you told me bottom on the message but i read here that my frog will cook itself if i put it on the bottom :P so what do i really do?
Please don't put any heat source on the bottom of any enclosures. The frogs dig down and sit on them and the potential to burn or to cook themselves is a great danger. Always place any heat sources on the back (or one side) of your enclosures. Whoever told you to place the heat source under your enclosure is either being mean & nasty or just isn't knowledgeable themselves.
thanks jessicai just realized i read the message i got wrong and i will be placing them on the back, I plan on getting 2 ornatas and im hoping one is a male and one is female and maybe in the future i will breed them
thanks tho
Wouldnt the rack work like it would for leopard geckos? If you keep it on a thermostat it will keep it from cooking the frogs wouldnt it? Talking belly heat
You don't want to use belly heat for frogs though. You put it on the side of the tub instead of the bottom like a snake or gecko rack. Right now I have my baby pac in a kritter keeper with heat tape taped to the side of it with no thermostat and it holds proper temps. I would never do this with it on the bottom though! I take a look every day to make sure hes not like pressed up against the side. The little guy likes his water dish a lot, and plops right next to it lol.
