Please don't put any heat source on the bottom of any enclosures. The frogs dig down and sit on them and the potential to burn or to cook themselves is a great danger. Always place any heat sources on the back (or one side) of your enclosures. Whoever told you to place the heat source under your enclosure is either being mean & nasty or just isn't knowledgeable themselves.

I use the smaller stuff for my snakes, and have issues with room temps...When I move out of my small apartment, looks like I got a new project to plan out! Looks good though Mike, that must be fun having all those Pacs to look after :]

Wouldnt the rack work like it would for leopard geckos? If you keep it on a thermostat it will keep it from cooking the frogs wouldnt it? Talking belly heat

You don't want to use belly heat for frogs though. You put it on the side of the tub instead of the bottom like a snake or gecko rack. Right now I have my baby pac in a kritter keeper with heat tape taped to the side of it with no thermostat and it holds proper temps. I would never do this with it on the bottom though! I take a look every day to make sure hes not like pressed up against the side. The little guy likes his water dish a lot, and plops right next to it lol.

Depends on the substrate. I use bottom heat on my frogs. They are on a paper towel in a 1/4 in of water. These frogs have been kept like that for years with no problems. It is a personal opinion on where to keep the heat.

Yeah you use a thermostat though right?

What's cool about that is they can burrow down, and not get burned. And you really don't have to worry too much about ambient temps because there right on top of the tape so they stay nice and warm. I always wondered if that would work! Good info, thanks for making this thread.

I have zoo-med heat cable on my rack and it works perfectly. Only thing with the heat cable is whatever the package says its a little shorter then advertised. I bought the 39 foot one and only 33 feet of it is usable. But other then that i haven't had a issue with it.

Where did you buy the frog rack?

Could you provide a picture of how the heat tape is fixed to the back of the rack? Are the shelves shorter than the depth of the rack?
