Default My Pakku is acting strange :(

It looks like his appetite isn't as big as it used to be. However, 3 out of the 5 crickets I put in last night are missing. Also, a bit after lights out last night he went to go soak in his dish. When I woke up this morning to turn the lights on, he was still soaking and is still in there as I type this. Current temp is 80 and humidity is 70. Anyone think this is strange or is it normal? Should I be worrying? I never seen him do this.

Dont worry yet. I would try and feed him elsewhere to make sure he is eating. If he eats there isnt much to worry about.

The youngsters don't always go to bed when they are supposed too so like Mike said no worries yet. He may have to poop and is soaking to try and go. His right side does not look full though so he could also just be thirsty. You can change his water and place warm water in and then place him back in the dish. If he has to poop this will help a lot more than cool water.

    Warm not hot.

    Keep us posted.

Alright, it's already 4pm here and I went back to check on him and he was still in the water... I took him out put in some warm spring water and put him back in. He's been in there for about 5 mins so lets see if he lets out a poop. Funny thing is though, as long as I've had him, he has never gone in the water, he always pooped in his substrate.

Also his substrate looks really dry in that picture. Its supposed to be heavily damp/moist. That could explain his discomfort.

S13, it takes a while for the UTH to kick in. I have a zoo med UTH (among others) and it took about 24 hours before it started emitting heat, and about 48 hours before it was fully operational. Depending on how long you've had it running, leave it on a bit longer before changing it.

Mine start emitting heat within minutes. The Zoo Med usually don't. Take very long to heat up. It could be a damaged one. All mine are Zoo Med UTHs. Martin do you mean that it takes 24 hours to start heating the tank and 48 hours to reach full output in the tank? If so that's probably right, but mine become warm witin minutes of being plugged in. Something isn't right with the one he has.

Yeah I got a zoo med one for the 10-20 gallon. It got warm within minutes. I placed my hand near it before going to work to make sure it was going and it was. Came home last night and it was cold, I left it plugged in all last night to see if it was just being weird and it was still cold. Taking it back.

Yep that sounds like it malfunctioned. Must have been a bad one.

Well, can't argue with that. Just thought it was worth mentioning that they sometime takes a while before doing their business.

Ok heat pad was exchanged. New one is on there, infared bulb is going at the moment dimmed down a bit, and I now have the day bulb. Earlier I tried the feeding tank method for Pakku again and he went berserk started peeing and flopping around in there. I have already read thats signs of severe stress so I took him out of there immediately, threw away the crickets that were in there. I dusted about 4 more and threw them in his tank where he's covered up for the night, poor thing :\ When I did put them in I saw him lunge at one but missed so here's hoping to see 0 crickets in the tank tomorrow morning...
