Our new rescue White's tree frog

Yesterday I picked up a white's tree frog from someone who was downsizing their collection. They posted an add on craiglist and it was just too good to pass up, the frog came with a tank, decorations, water dishes, mist bottle, light fixture and a huge container full of coco fiber for $20.

I do have one question, she came with a 40 watt red basking nightlight, is it safe to use?

I had been wanting to get a white's tree frog for a while, my son (who will soon be 3) absolutely loves frogs and has an array of toy frogs, he is just ecstatic about our new pet.

So here she is, the big chunker.


I let my son hold her for a while, it was hard to get a clear picture (they both move a bit) but just to show you how big she is.

Congratulations on your find, but I wouldn't call it a rescue unless you were saving the frog from a horrible situation.

They kept her in a 10 gallon tank with a UVB light on all day, I'd say she needed a little rescue. I know the conditions weren't horrible but I feel I'm giving her a bit of a better life.

How big is it?

She is about 3½" give or take.

The bulb is safe to use, they should be kept at a range of 80-85 day and 70-77 night. Depending on the heat in the room you might even need a more powerful bulb. i prefer to go over board and use a 75 on a dimmer set to very low, but with this you need something to help with the humidity. Cute frog, i cant wait till my current Whites Tree Frog gets older and starts filling out.
