    Default Here we go again.....

Ok So I have tried with my frog to take the best care possible but I am lost. I have had him for a little over a year, have asked several questions and have taken advice from many of you and still I feel lost!

He has a great tank with clean coconut fiber, misted 2x (or as needed) a day, plants, a little bath, and a temp and humidity gauge which I watch very closely. I keep his temp during the day between 75-80 and at night around 70-74. His humidity is always steady at between 70-80%.

So here is the problem; he just doesn't want to eat. I have even tried to force feed him and he just does not want to. He buries himself everyday and I have to dig him out every night and try to feed him, but with no luck. I have only tried crickets and mealworms however and cannot stomach givivg a mouse, do you think he is bored with the food? Here is the weird part; he hasn't lost weight at all.....how is that possible? It seems like a loooong time since he has eaten?????

He probably looks like he hasn't lost weight because of water weight. A well hydrated Pacman will appear fat.

With force feeding it really isn't a matter of whether he wants to or not. If he is satrving to death you will have to get food in him or he will die. You can place him in a seperate contaner where he cannot burrow away when you try to force feed.

His temps need to be higher. During the day he needs 80 to 85 and 75 to 79 at night. Try and keep him at 78 at night though. Raising the temps higher may spark his appetite, but could possibly take a day or so. Your humidity levels are fine.

They do get bored with food sometimes. Try earth worms or red wigglers. You should be able to get them at Petsmart.

    Keep us posted.

You need to stay calm. If you're stressed he will become more stressed. Let him be for a night and try again tomorrow. Be patient. He will not always take food and sometimes will fight force feeding. Please remain calm.

Trust me you must not make him anymore stressed than he already is. Keep him warm and his humidity up. Also it may take a day for him to sttle down.

    Keep me posted.

Why do you keep digging him out? If frog is healthy looking let it sleep. IMO you're just stressing him out by digging him out and attempting to force feed.

Thank you, I am stressed. I love him! I feel like I have been trying so many things and getting no where! I was almost in tears last night trying to get him to eat. You are right though I need to take a breath and be calm. I will go at it again tonight with a calmer approach. Thanks so much!

I know i am asking some of the same questions but i think i can help you.

I had the same problem, my frog wouldnt eat at all for soooo long and he was just a baby! The best advice i can give you is to put about 8-10 small crickets in his tank at night than leave him alone.
When you wake up the next morning some should be gone . Be sure to take the left over crickets out so they dont stress him out. No you wont SEE him eat, but as least hes eating.

If it doesnt work the first night, try again the next night. Do this everynight until he starts eating, it should work. It did for me and i have the same exact temp. humidity as you do.

Oh and for the "burrowing" problem, just last night when i put 9 crickets in, he was burrowed 100% (couldnt even see his eyes!). The next morning there were 4 crickets left and you still couldnt see my frog under all the fiber, so they still do eat when they are burrowed in the ground :P, digging him out is only stressing him out. You need to just leave him alone and let him be

I really hope this helped! Please keep us updated!

My pac didn't like to eat at first, or so i thought! He just likes "privacy" to eat! I just unbury his lil beady eyes, and throw some crickets in and leave the room for a bit and he munches them up! Now, I've even got him eating crickets from tongs! =)

try giving him some privacy and see if it helps <3

Hi, i have a ? how big it your frog ? at a year old it should be close to adult size. assuming its a C. cranwelli or ornata. in any case if giving him the privacy doesnt work I would leave it be for a few days and then get night crawlers and feed him in a tub with a little lukewarm water. I've had many cranwells refuse crickets but not many pass on nightcrawlers. and if he doesnt eat .. give him a few days before you try again.

JIvory is asking what species your Pacman is. Ceratophrys Cranwelli or Ceratophrys Ornata. What kind of Pacman frog do you have? Post pics of the frog and the frogs enclosure. This will help.
