You can give him about 5 pieces and that should be fine. The pieces you cut off will still wiggle and squirm so they will attract his attension.
Let me know how he likes them.

Oh boo. I drove all the way to Petsmart and they didn't have any, or any worms for that matter. Guess I will try again tomorrow at Petco!

Nugget looks awesome
I might try nightcrawlers cuz crickets are kinda getting on my nerves. Can't you get nightcrawlers from the sporting/fishing section of walmart? Are the quality of those any different?

Thank you!
Yea I heard you can get them there, too. I was actually going to try tomorrow after work since there is a Walmart down the street from my office. I thought someone on this forum had mentioned they were good quality- I hope I am not remembering something wrong now. Maybe someone can post to the quality of the worms from Walmart?

Re: Someone got grumpy while his tank was being cleaned.
So I got some nightcrawlers.
They are way skinnier than I thought, will 5 pieces be enough? Also if anyone knows, can you get the dirt off if them by rinsing them?

Nugget seemed to be okay with the nightcrawlers, or he may have just been hungry. He ate three pieces. He had the fourth in his mouth at one point but spit it out. He still isn't too keen on tong feeding, so I'm not sure how well this is going to go. It took me almost an hour to just get him to eat the three pieces, while he usually eats dinner in 10-15 minutes.

Some take time to adjust to new foods. He will probably deside that he likes them next feeding.
atleast he ate 3 pieces. Most won't even try new foods at first.

Nugget had worms for dinner tonight! I gave him pieces a bit larger than last time and he was able to grab them from the feeding tongs easier. It seems he likes to see his food move A LOT, and some of the pieces I had last time weren't wiggly enough. haha

atleast you'll know he did though.

Aww thanks, wait until AFTER I give him the worms to tell me!

Re: Someone got grumpy while his tank was being cleaned.
i love your grumpy froggy!! My Geralds grumpy too, and seems to frown at me sometimes!
Your feeding rotines sound good so far, I tell you what helps me loads is a plain calender which i write down mealtimes. Example on one day he'l have "crickets x3" 10.30am and "mealworm x2" 11am. This way i don't overfeed him too much, and i know what sort of variety he's getting every few days. The calender is stuck on my fridge.
It is also a great help as I know when i can transfer some good specimens into the gutloading container ready for his next feed!!
I'm pretty sure he's a male Ornate because in one of the pictures he has a darkish speckled throat. Though I'm not sure...! I would cry if Gerald was a Geraldine!!

That's a good feeding schedule Hornedfairy. Don't cry if you have a female. Females get really big and are just as much fun to own as males even though they don't call. I have a pair and love them both. Dark spots on their throat isn't always a sure sign of a male. Not to burst your bubble
. Ornates tend to have a lot of spots even if female. So that's. Why its not accurate. In Cranwellis it can be a decent indicator, but alass still not right all the time. Loki my male does have the dark spots all over his throat and they haven't faded at all. Grif had them all the way from baby to juvinile and after she started becoming and older juvinile they faded and are almost gone.
So basically the only true indicators are either nuptual pads when the frog reaches sexul maturity or if your little froggy starts calling.

Thank you! I actually have been looking into a calendar- somewhat for feedings like you do, but also to keep track of when I give him calcium and his multivitamin (though its usually the same days each week). I think its an awesome idea, thanks for letting me know it works for you.
