    Default My new frog!

I just stopped at a little pet store and they had a few frogs. And they happen to have what they said was another American green tree frog. Thing is the owners seem to be the WORST pet owners I have ever seen. I mean a few of the tanks had dead animals in them and I don't mean like a floating fish. ya this is not alive. Any way I wanted this frog because I thought it might be a female. It is a bright green where my other two are all brown. it is a little smaller than my other two but I think this may be a age difference. It is more active as well. I havnt herd a peep out of it at all yet and the skin under the Neck looks lighter as well. Think this is a female?

Yes that I think was a monitor. Should I let some one know about that pet store or should I go back for more pictures first?that was far from the only thing dead there I mean ALL tanks had lots of wast in them and most had flying fruit flies in them but I'm sure it was NOT to feed the animals I am sure The flys came from to much moisture and bad tank hygiene. Even after I paid for the frog they didn't have any container to put him in. Reptile bedding on the Floor and much more.

Wow, someone needs to report that Pet Store! But very pretty American Green Tree Frog! I hope (s)he has a wonderful life under your care. If you need anything about American Green Tree Frogs, ask me. I own 2 myself, and put them in a good habitat. As for sexing, listen for croaking and darken throats. If you see this in this frog, it's a male. If not, it's most likely a female.

EDIT: I noticed you already tried the recommended sexing method. I believe that if it's smaller than your others, it might be too young to sex. For all I know, it just could be a very scared male, or is yet to be mature enough for croaking. Give it time then try again.

You need to report them! I would raise hell with them for treating the animals like that! Awful!!!!

That is sooo sad, but very happy that you were able to save this one. Yes, you need to report this quickly. If they saw you take pictures they may clean everything up before you are able to contact the authorities.
