Default VIDEO: Green tree frog eating cricket

Hi all. I just signed up to this forum and thought I would put up this small video of a frog I filmed the other night feeding on crickets...\

Green Tree Frog Video: GREEN TREE FROG EATING CRICKET - YouTube

There are quite a few around here (probably hundreds from the noises I hear through the valley) and I will be trying to get some more footage of them over the next few nights...

    Hope you enjoy the clip!

    Ben

That is awesome! Since we don't have them in the wild here, I think it's soooo cool to see someone able to say "There are quite a few around here". Now can you get a video of the White-lipped Tree Frog (Litoria infrafrenata)? They are one of my favorites.

    Hi Gail,

Thanks, it sure is awesome having them around

I'm near Brisbane, QLD so I'm a bit further south of where the white lipped frog lives (I just looked them up... I'm new to frogs ) but if I get up to the northern parts where they are anytime soon I will be sure to track one down for you

I love White's Tree Frogs. I hope to eventually get one one day. Thanks for sharing the video! I'm jealous that you have them EVERYWHERE. :P

Thats really cool how close you were able to get to a wild one, I wonder if they are in so close to the houses if they are somewhat used to people. Any frogs of any breed I see here will just run and hide at the first site of people.

Alot of them don't seem to mind human interaction... I guess we are sharing the same house... I've found them inside the house, in the toilet, in gutters, pipes, buckets etc.

To me, that looks like a Whites Tree Frog. The faces are no similar to the American Green Tree Frogs. And I should know that, I have two American Green Tree Frogs!

Neat video, and your backyard abundance sounds awesome. Their cohabitation sounds like how our native Hyla versicolor get on with people around here. You start to swear their 'natural habitat' is the top of a door frame.

Whites Treefrogs are also called "Green Treeefrogs", though this name might be more commonly used in Australia. The problem with common names is any species can have several and any common name can be attached to several species.
