I have had my green tree frogs for about a week now. In a 17.2x12.9x22.6 tank. After a few days they seem to be getting used to there tank. But I have read that I should change the dirt in the tank about once a week. And clean any wast made by the frogs daily. But now that I have had them for a week and they seem to be happy and getting used to the tank I don't want to rip it all down to clean it and risk stressing my frogs out is it a must do? Or can I go 1 more week before I do a full cleaning of the habitat?
Spot cleaning is good to do as soon as you find waste, but changing the substrate once a week is really not neccecary. It depends on how your setup is, but I would not worry about it for several months or even half a year. But again, how the tank works makes a big difference. If it's a little eco-system of it's own, you might never want change it, or at least not more than once a year or so. For example, changing substrate in my RETF-terrarium once a week would really mess things up, since there are roots exactly everywhere right now.
Also, cleaning so often might stress the frogs more than neccesary, even if it's done daytime.
