hello all,im new at the frog ownership.recently a friend of mine had 4 leopard frog tadpoles at her house and was going to flush them!!!! because she was moving and didnt want to deal with them,i know it horrilbe ,so i took them in.right now they are in a ten gallon,not vary far into morhing.right now they have no legs .i will really need all your help threw out this can they all be in the same tank if it is big enough? iv heard 10 gallons per frog ....is that right? thank you all so much.

Welcome aboard. Not a big expert on Ranids so I will let the others handle this. There is at least one running thread on the care and maintenance of leopard frogs, Lithobates (Rana) pipiens already. You should check it out. Again, welcome aboard.

im no expert. I do have a creek frog that my daughter brought home as a tad. The ten gallon may be too small for four grown frogs. as tadpoles though I had them in a small fish tank with fish filters. they ate the alge we got from the creek, regular fish food, brine shrimp, blood worms. then wouldn eat when they got legs but still had a tail. when the tail was gone I offered them small crickets, earth worms, and meal worms. one frog made it to maturity. I think she is a common green frog rather than a leopard, but I could be wrong. did your friend say where she got her tads? I think you will need at least a twenty gallon with land and water when they are grown. glad they didnt get flushed.

I agree with Jody. Definitely check out the other thread thats running. As for the 10 gallon rule, those rules suck. Jody is right, start at 20. Its not the ratio, its the base size. Ranids are ultra-active so the more room, the better.
