- Well, I am normally concidered fairly inteligent... (Or, that is by those who love me!) (!)
Nah, sorry... Now being serious!
- Question:
Was I wrong to plan my new Vivarium to my taste, about placement... And second being highly concerned about the well being of the darts I plan to take care of in future to come?? (!)
I was measuring my build to fit between two windows here in my "office room", planned as Peninsula. And launch chairs on the other side... "That would be fancy" (!)
- Now, windows are facing south. Should I be concerned about heat?
(I read somewhere, never place your Vivarium near/ close to windows!)
And recently read about... There is actually not much light penetrating to where they live, because of overhang= "leaf roof" over their heads!
- Placing the Vivarium where I planned... I would never get to see the frogs now would I?? (Hrrmffssst!!)
To late to make changes about size and measure as glass is cut, only waits to be siliconed...
- But I can still make time to wise up regarding its placement, and other changes of plans!
I ask to share your thoughts, and I welcome every criticism/ advice to make this one a perfect build...
Thank you in advance!
/Flemming.
You should have no problems placing between two windows since you stated there is little direct sunlight hitting the enclosure. Directly in front of the window would be an issue due to heat usually.
Good luck with the build and post some pics as it progresses.
1.0.0 Red Eyed Leaf/ Frog - Agalychnis callidryas
1.1.1 Bumblebee Dart Frog - Dendrobates leucomelas
1.1.0 Dendrobates truncatus - Yellow Striped
1.1.1 Dendrobates tinctorius – Bakhuis Mountain
1.1.0 - Dendrobates tinctorius - Powder Blue
1.1.0 - Ranitomeya vanzolinii
In terms light... The fact that the frogs actually don´t need it, and only is found in shaded areas. (I read yesterday!)
- Made me imagine worsed case scenario, that the frogs would retreet to the back wall to feel more safe. Due the fact that light penetrates the Vivarium from two sides, and from top!
I would hate to "blind" two sides for that extra cost I had ordering "Opti White" (!)(I will if I have to!)
- The Vivarium is ordered with measures, in centimeters: 75 tall, 100 deep, 50 wide. (Some 99 Gallons.)
I was planning a light fixture like the one I had over my saltwater tank, shown in pic.
- Would some 75 Watt CFL (I believe you call it!), and 2x 39 Watts T5 (Dimmable) be sufficient?
/Flemming.
Dart frogs are definitely not afraid of natural light and will have no problem with it.
Those two should be plenty of lighting for live plants.
As for forum vs blog. Not to many read the blogs and answer them since they are pretty new to the forum. Most readers tend to use the "Whats New?" selection which does not show new posts to blogs so I believe they would go unseen for quite some time before read or answered.
