Hey, my name is Jeff and although I've had many pets over the years, this is my first frog. I read a lot here and decided on a Pacman. He was labeled as an Argentinian Horned Frog, but I really can't tell the difference of all the different types. I just call him Burt (shown below). He makes noise once in a while, so I'm guessing he's a him. Well now I'm hooked on frogs AND building enclosures. Next, I want to get a dart frog. Today I really hooked up Burt's tank. I'll post some pictures tomorrow before his shower. Thanks for a great forum!

Thanks for the clarification. How can you tell the difference? They look the same. Is it the pattern?

So I hooked up his tank last night and this morning he was gone. I literally can't tell were he's buried and he's a big boy, the size of my hand.Here's some new tank pics with new fake plant,a great rock background I found, water dish and some other stuff.

There are many parts of their appearance that is different in each species of Horned frog. Cranwellies tend to be duller and color and usually are Olive greens/browns/tans/rusty browns. Where as Ornates are brighter Greens/yellowgreens/browns/reds. Also Ornates have false eye spots on the back of their eyelids. Different facial features and body shape as well. Ornates tend to get a bit larger too.

No worries about not being able to find him. They are nocturnal and burrow during the day to sleep. He's in there somwhere. Under the edge of that huge rock/near the UTH/ or near the fake plant would be good guesses as to where he would hide.
