So Colorado is pretty much in a state wide snow day and I don't feel like digging out my jeep so I decided to take some pictures of my frog Monty today, let me know what you think and if i need to do anything to his tank.
sorry they are kinda blurry, Monty was pretty active and I am the farthest from a professional photographer
Cute frog!
He/she would love some live plants; a bromeliad or snake plant. Both are super easy to take care of he would love the hiding spots.
You need to be sure you wash all the dirt off the roots and rinse thoroughly to be sure there isn't any fertilizer or vermiculite (sp?). You can plant right in the substrate or in pots that are half buried in the substrate.
I have always wanted to try live plants, just don't know were to start, should a local nursery have these plants? and also is it fine to mix both live a fake plants?
Lowes or Homedepot would have those plants just like Lindsey said make sure you wash all the dirt off the roots so there isn't any fertilizer left to hurt Monty
sounds great, maybe Ill pick up some plants once all the snow clears from Colorado lol. and planting it with the coconut fiber substrate is fine?
Yeah I have them growing into my fake background which is Great Stuff foam... Once they get growing they will keep growing. Just make sure the coco fiber doesn't stay super wet or they will rot.
And great if you got all that snow I'm in Michigan so we will prolly see it soon.

where at in Colorado?! i'm in aurora - it isn't that bad out there, i think its awesome! i even made it to work and to home depot to pick up some gravel and screen to get my new tank set up. i'm waiting for fedex to get here with my hood though, i hope they went to work today! lol.
i mix my fake and real plants, they get along just fineand i just use eco-earth for substrate and the live ones i got at petco are growing quite well in it!
Monty looks like a happy lil' dude, i'm sure he'd love more branches/vines and hidey spots too :}
