    Default Pal for river toad?

Hello all! We've successfully kept our bufo alvarius toad for a few months now after being given her from a friend. She's got a nice set up with plenty of burrowing space, two caves, a stream and waterfall which she likes to soak in. My son really likes watching him but she is a bit boring for a two year old and my wife and I were wondering about getting another toad/frog. I've looked up other alvarius but they're hard to come by and seem to be priced outrageously high. Are there any other toads/frogs that would make a good partner for Raoul? We put some small frogs we caught in the back yard over the summer in her enclosure and she ended up eating them lol. So I'm pretty clueless on what species would make a good living partner for her.

    None, do not mix species.

Each frog/toad has it's own toxins and when shared in a water source can be deadly or stressful to the other breed and will often lead to death. Not to mention the various parasites, mites, fungus that another breed might bring into the tank.

Makes sense, so either stick with another river toad or none at all in the same tank?

Toads arn't social amphibains, like say dart frogs, but when housing two toads together, it can be beneficial because one toads feeding responce will triger it's tank mate's feeding responce.

Take a look at this video:

The same species is fine for one tank. Good luck!
