How to make a nutrient-rich soil for plants? Help?

I have a vivarium with one White's. It is heavily planted and looks great. I want it to look even better. I plan on doing this by making a nutrient rich soil for the plants. What mixture would make a good soil without harming the frog? Right now its just Eco-Earth.

I don't see a need for an additive since most vivariums thrive with proper lighting and soil based on standard tank substrates.
I constantly have to cut back plants in all my vivariums using 6500K lighting and all are planted in straight Plantation Soil and a hydroball drainage layer below.

Last tank I tore down had all the roots grow right through the substrate screen into the hydroballs which I thought was pretty impressive.

I use what is called a b.a.s! Bio Active Substrate. It is a mixture of eco earth(coconut fiber), soil, and crushed lava rock. Mix it all together. The eco earth and soil are mixed half and half with about a third of crushed lava rock. The lave rock is important for it spaces out the particles so your soil can breath and have room for essential soil bacterias to thrive. The hardest part was crushing the lava rock. You can find the detailed instructions in a book called the art of keeping snakes. The b.a.s that I am talking about was designed for tropical and sub-tropical vivariums. There are others for different needs.
