Well, I'm not going to risk my babies... hahaha. I can't seem to find any info/and or advice on this subject so I'm afraid to try it out.

Im glad that you chose not to use sand for your bombinas, the grains of sand can get caught in their mouth and grind their jaw, there is also the risk of impaction when the sand hardens in their digestive tract.
