Do all frogs do this, or just tree frogs? I have FBT's, I've never seen anything like that.

My tree frog does it. I had him about three months before I caught him doing it.
And apparently firebellies do it too.

I have a frog. She's fat and green. Her name is Gertrude, because she is fat and green.
Definitely can be a freaky experience! I remember the first time I saw my White's shed. They puffed up and were moving their bellies side to side. I thought the little guys were going to explode! Lol.
How often do they shed like that and do they completely eat it all?? eww. lol
They tend to shed more if humidity levels are perfect to near perfect and during growth spurts. During growth spurts depending on how fast your frog or toad is growing can be every other day to every couple days. When not growing they may only shed once a week.
Yes, if they have a good shed they will be able to pull all the skin into their mouth and eat it. Bad sheds can occur which is usually caused by below ideal humidity levels. The skin will not come off all in one piece and parts will still be stuck on the frog. This can be irritating to their skin and a lot of the time they will seek water to saturize the skin that is still attached so they can remove it. They eat it for norishment. You know waste not want not Lol!![]()
lol good point!!
Yes, all frogs and toads shed their skin. They all do it similarly if not exactly the same.you will see them do it eventually. They spend a lot of time in water so their skin probably comes off in the water which would make it difficult to catch them in the act since the water makes their skin come off very easily.
