Here is my little guy. Just got him last week. I chose him because he was the largest of the group (all wild caught from Paraguay). I did notice he had a small wound on his elbow but I am a sucker for the "under dog" so I chose him anyhow, thinking it was a wound from being wild-caught & would heal when I got him home. Well, the first night home he got bitten by my Cuban knight anole, which are the wounds on his top side. He is since separated from the anole. His original wound he had on his elbow from before I brought him home just keeps getting bigger & bigger, almost like the flesh is just being eaten away now there are a couple similar wounds on his back leg that are not from the anole attack. Is this a disease? Infection? I just need to know how to make my little bugger healthy! Is there something I can treat him with? Thanks guys. Sorry to be so ignorant. Here are up close photos to his wounds:

Missi,
I am SO sorry your frog is so terribly injured.
You MUST seek the care of a vet ASAP.
This can NOT be treated by a lay person. Sorry

Thanks! I'll try the first one. The second one, Animalife, I took my gecko to & they couldn't find out what was wrong with her. They did a fecal exam & wormed her. She was wasting away (which is why I took her in) & ended up dying after all. They do a great job with my dogs though!!
Glad I could help.Hopefully your new frog pulls through.
First off you should never house frogs with lizards or even different species of frog wiith one another. That is a huge no. To help stop infection until you take him to the vet i put some neosporine on the wounds. Make sure its Original Neosporine without painkiller. The painkiller wil kill your frog. try the Neosporine to keep it fom getting worse until then.
I hope he recovers.![]()
Yes, those injuries need to be treated quickly. You can use a small amount of NEOSPORIN with NO pain killer on the open wound areas but make sure the NEOSPORIN has NO pain killer in it. That is NO pain killer.
Hope the vet can provide some help and needed care.
You probably (and hopefully) figured this out, but adding a frog to an enclosure already housing one of the most territorial pet lizards there is, is just bad... And quite ignorant.
I do hope the veterinarian can help save the frog, and that he gets to live in a proper home from now on.
Best of luck.
I know it was VERY ignorant & I DID know better -- BUT -- my knight anole grew up with a red-eyed tree frog in his viv which he NEVER EVER harasses so I thought it might be okay to add the tiger legged as well. Again, VERY DUMB on my part & now the tiger legged is paying for my stupidity & my heart is paying as well because I did this to him & he is suffering, totally breaks my heart & I want to try to make it right.
Thanks for the tips on Neosporin! I do not use Neosporin but bacatracin which has no numbing med in it so it should be okay to use on the little fella. I did know not to use numbing ointment on the frog because that is what they suggest to use to kill wild Cuban tree frogs that are invasive in my area. They are the only frogs I see on my house, no more native tree frogs because they eat them, as I'm sure you all know! I do really appreciate all tips though, please keep them coming! I'll keep you guys posted on what is going on. Going to call the vet today. Hope they can get me in!!
If I can't get in to the vet, I have a parrot breeder friend who keeps Baytril if any of her baby birds get an infection. How would I administer it to my little guy?

ENROFLOXACIN (BAYTRIL) Put 8 drops in 125ml Tepid water. Put a lid on the bowl and make sure the frogs’ head stays above the water. Duration: 15 min. each day for 6 days
Note that the mixture depends on size of frog and I don't have anything to state how much for what weight. I would cut the mixture to 6 drops per 125ml water.
HECK NO! I feel bad killing even a spider!!! Biologists suggest it, though. See here: The Cuban Treefrog in Florida

It totally pays to know people! I heard from the exotics store owner. He gave me the name of a local vet he uses who actually loves to treat frogs because he himself LOVES frogs! However, his clinic hours are the same as my work hours so tonight I picked up Baytril from my bird breeder friend. Gave the little one his first Baytril soak (as instructed in an earlier comment). This morning I placed bacitracin on the wounds. I plan to put the ointment on the wounds every morning & give him his Baytril soak every evening, for the six days. I have him in a tiny plastic container with a bamboo perch, a wet paper towel, a leaf of organic spring green for the one cricket in there if the frog wants to eat. I figure if I have the leaf of green in there, the cricket will leave my frog alone is my frog doesn't eat him first. He was super active during his soak! His eyes were wide open! I think he stands a chance guys! It is thanks to you all, too! THANK YOU! *group hug* I'll continue to post updates.
You are very welcome![]()
Woot! Hoping for speedy and successful recovery here.![]()
If you want to keep the crickets away, use a glass desert or cereal bowl that has a nice round bottom. the crickets can'y escape and the frogs can sit a bowls edge and pick them off.
