What is a rough estimate price for all the materials to build a decent size viv? I think I'll go this route instead of buying one if its less expensive.

I think it depends how much you put into it. I think mine cost around $300 total. It is a 50 gal. though.

Yes, it will roughly cost around $300, and since my parents won't fund me, I'll have to raise all the money myself. The main reason I went this direction is mainly for customization and ability to add features without destroying a perfectly good tank! Even though it will take 3-5 months in order to fund the project, it's still going to be worth it.
