I came home from work tonight to find Sticky with his mouth just slightly open, as if he'd been shedding and fallen asleep mid-shed. This has happened before, but he normally moves after an hour or so. This time he hadn't moved in about eight hours ( he was in the same place I left him before I left for work, so I'm ASSUMING 8 hours). I touched him, and he responded to my touch but he was very dry. He moved after I dumped a bunch of water on him. I'm actually soaking him in some water as I type this... but yeah. I think Mr. Stickyfeet is on his last legs. :| Fudge.
I have a frog. She's fat and green. Her name is Gertrude, because she is fat and green.
Yeah, he scarfed down about four crickets last night. And he's relatively active. It's chilly here so he's got that "winter laziness" going on. His typcially more active in the warmer months, when my house heats up to about 78. It hovers around 72 now. I never put a thermometer in his tank because where I used to live it was always so hot and humid, it just didn't seem necessary. (Summertime temp in that apartment got up to 85, with 75% humidity INDOORS. Outside, total frog heaven. :P Don't rag on me for it, he's had the same tank setup for 6 years and just started getting icky about a month back)
His water bowl was a little...blech (just fixed that) so I'm hoping that that's the cause for his dryness. I wouldn't soak in that water either. Granted, I'm not the one who eats her skin, or pees in her bathtub...
He's adorable, for sure, but I have to keep in mind just how old he is. For his species, he's like 87.
If he passes, I'll cry for about a week and then look forward to this summer, when I can catch (or maybe buy) another one. Grays are in Minnesota too.
