In my continuing search for a single species of frog to keep (I'm allowing myself only one), I've often come back to the false tomato frog. I've kept other species of frog in the past (arboreal and terrestrial) and have enjoyed every single one. I'm really attracted to the dark facial patterning of these guys and the contrast between that and the rest of their coloration. They appear pretty straight-forward care-wise and are just plain cool. The thing that's always kept me from getting one is the fact that almost every video I've watched of them has shown them as sac-like and bloated: like little water balloons with a solid head in the front. Don't get me wrong, I can appreciate a little bit of healthy girth on a frog, but this just looks wrong. I've seen some pics of nice stout ones that you guys own that don't have the sac-like appearance, but I don't know if that's because they're young. I'm hoping that the ones I've seen have been either inflated or just overfed because I would love to keep one of these guys, but don't find the blobby appearance very attractive.
