I use a high calcium powder, but I was told that giving crickets high calcium as a regular diet makes them die faster and loose their legs. I mix it up now.

when i get my crickets from the petshop the're overcrowded in a tiny plastic container, so i divide the numbers about half into larger plastic handy boxes and use a mixture of sawdust as bedding and oats on the top. They eat the oats, plus every now and then a couple of pieces of carrots. I was finiding green leaves and lettuce were making the crickets ill, smelly and eventually die in their containers.

When I had a Betta, I'd give the crickets some of the pellets too. I give them some regular fish flakes when I can't get them any other food. I was using ground up hermit crab pellets for a bit too. They need much more water with the powder though. I've been putting in grapes for added water and just started giving oats to see if they'd eat them. I also gave floating sticks I used to feed my tadpoles, the crickets loved them.

i also tried mine with pieces of little orange and some fish food. The oats are great, they run off with a flake and nibble, then try to steal another bugs oats! I also put in some raisens/ currants and they enjoyed pushing them around for a bit, I don't know if they ate them, but they like moving them around anyway! Some people use catfood, but I personally can't stand the smell.

So I was feeding my cricket's the Fluker's Orange Cubes, but they dried up quick and could even get moldy if not kept an eye on. Heatheranne mentioned the Fluker's High Calcium Cricket Feed (not sure if it was here, or another thread?) and so I did a little mix of the two to see how the crickets liked it. They LOVED the cricket feed, were no longer concerned with the Orange Cubes. I was concerned about moisture once I started leaving the Cubes out, but now I just make sure I change their substrate regularly enough and keep it wet enough.

However, I've heard lots of good things about oatmeal! Haven't tried it yet, but I hear crickets love it.
