Is it just me, or are there a lot of sick white's on the forum right now?
They are supposed be the hardiest of the tree frogs, right?
Are there some genetic issues or something else going on to cause such 'epidemic' in sick white's?
Anyone else make this observation?
I have noticed this. There have been atleast 6 in the last week to week and a half. Could have to do with where they're coming from, but I doubt it because they're all different ages. Its very strange.
Do frogs typically get sick in the winter like humans do? I know they do slow down a bit in colder temps, but these frogs are all over the place. Huh. I'd almost blame some sort of change in the water system (They added something to our water and our dog now refuses to drink it.) but most of you guys use bottled water. Weird. Very, very weird.
That makes sense. Maybe that's why my frog got sick? He's not a White's, but the weather here has been really weird. normally it's like 5 this time of year with a -20 windchill. Right now it's 37. ABOVE.

Be very careful not to allow cold drafts to enter your frogs enclosure or even be near an outdoor entance or window to your house. This way your frog doesn't have any cold air gusting around or inside the enclosure. Cold drafts can make them ill not to mention lower their climate conditions in their home.
Air Conditioning is also very bad. You don't want your frogs hoome anywhere near an AC vent. Better that the room they are in stays warm.
I have a White's and he died tonight. I believe it was from a respiratory infection, and unfortunately I did not catch it early enough. I'm heart broken.
Awww Jen...I'm so sorry to hear that![]()
Sorry to hear Jenn.
Yes, we are seeing many ill WTFs on the forum lately. Since WTFs are probably the most common frog found in pet shops, and likely the most common 1st frogs someone buys, it is pretty common to have many new members come here with ill frogs.
We will see this over and over here and it is sad but since we're their main source for help, the best we can do is keep a sympathetic ear and provide the best answers we can.
