I came in to my room and saw him in the same spot as he was for the past while. Idk how long. For the last few Days he's been every active and eating. I thought he really improved.
But when I saw him I sorta nudged him toward his (clean) water bowl. He didn't move. Did it again. Didn't even open his little eyes. Finally I picked him up and he didn't move for a split sec but then got up and hopped next to his bowl. Hasn't moved since. This was a few min ago.
I keep safe temp, humidity, water, climbing space, hiding spaces, food, I just don't know what I'm doing wrong :'(
And I still haven't found a single vet within like 150+ miles of my county...
Other stuff might help is he doesn't eat a lot, somewhat underweight, stays on ground, and that's it.
Plz help
I thought I was just over reacting earlier but I may be wrong....
Ok Ive been checking on Kirby and he has moved into his bowl and now out... This is just short update I still need help lol
Hi Ian,
You might not be doing anything wrong!
If needed visit this page here on FF:
Frog Forum - Basic Frog First Aid
There was a thread recently (you could search for ) about an online vet, if needed?
In the meantime--If he is new to you and his enclosure. Aside from providing food ( Cal and Vit) , clean dechlorinated water (daily -if possible without disturbing him) ,proper temp/humidity ; you should cover three sides of the enclosure, and leave him be. Handling should be only if absolutely necessary ! ( ie I have frogs for over 2 years I have NEVER touched ). Provide complete darkness each night, with a consistent day/night cycle. Keep things calm and quite away form constant foot traffic around the enclosure.
Experts here on FF will need much more specific information:
-where did he come form
-how long have you had him
-photos of the enclosure if possible
-what kind of frog is he
-is he eating
-what is he eating
-when did he eat last
-is he pooping
-specific gauge information --temp and humidity
Hang in there. I hope this helps ?

He is in a calm and well lit room during day and usually dark at night, but his night lamp burned out about 3 days ago and we haven't came to get one yet. We just turn the day one down and we do cover the sides do its just barely dim in there.
I have clean dechlorinated water daily, and don't pick him up often. Only when cleaning and recently getting him to eat.
And a question; if I dust crickets with cal and then gut load a hi-cal/vit diet, is that good enough?
-he came from petco (idk if captive bred or not
-had him since August ( almost five months)
-I'll try to provide photos
-lol he's a WTF
-he hasn't been eating a lot but when I thought he had gotten better he ate 2 crickets
-2 days ago?
-idk if he's pooping I can't find it that well
-humidity- always around 60%
-day temp- 75-80 F
-night temp- 68-74 F
Thank you for responding too
Those re the best pics I can take for now
PS: I haven't changed water today so it's a little shallow. I don't want to disturb him...
His bowl is sorta at an angle so he's in the shallow part right now. It gets deeper toward the front
Hi,
FF seems quite tonight.
How is he ?

He does look skinny. Especially his legs. He needs a vet Ian. I wish there was more that I could do for you and your frog. You can try to force feed him. He needs food for energy. If he is not eating on his own. If you need help with this task members with experiance canadvise you through it. I really hope you can get him to a herp vet.
@flybyfern:
It won't let me post a comment right now in tht idk why lol. But I have been noticing all the sickness... Weird.... Hopefully it is just the weather...
Anyway thanks for helping. I also think maybe Kirby isn't underweight, he just looks skinny when he stretches out . Still no sign if eating or poop but he's looking a little greener. You can't tell in pic cuz of lighting...
He doesn't look skinny here grif?....does he?
I also got a lil cricket posing in there lol.
We're still trying to find a vet somewhere in our state at LEAST. I also have a new and deeper bowl in going to use for him....
Thank you so much grif and flybyfern. You guys are helping a lot... I'll try and keep you updated...
Here is a link to some possible herp vets in Washington State:
Herp Vet Connection
One thing I want to point out is your frog will slow down for the winter months so don't expect the same activity as you saw in the summer months.
You frog does look pretty good in the photo above too.
Ok he's doing that on off thing again. I came in the room ad there he is hoppin on his vine... I'll show pic b4 he hops off!
I did NOT mean to use flash but he's ok lol.
I did here about the whole winter summer stuff. That really helps too thnx haha.
I am going to try that site you showed me thank you!
Woot woot! Found a herp vet only like 1/2 hr away! Prosser animal hospital yay! Wonder why i couldn't find it earlier....
Thank youuuuuuu DonLisk!!!
I suppose he is still juvenile comparing him to the cricket?
The size of that cricket is somewhat big for this frog in my opinion.
I know some people feed their whites oversized food items like rats and other big stuff like that,
but the danger of impaction will grow that way. (On the otherside they keep thinking that substrate causes the impaction )
It could be me, but looking at this frog gives me a feeling that something may be wrong.
If i were you i'd send some stool to a vet.
Around here we are able to send it by mail,
guess that would be possible over there in the states as well.
Just get some fresh stool, put it in some moist, clean cottonwool,
put it in a filmcannister and seal tight,
or put it in plastic bags a couple of times to prevent it from drying out.
When we send something by mail, it will be delivered the day after,
getting the results within a day or maybe 2.
When he won't poop, you might put him in some luke warm water,
keep him in there for about 10-15 minutes.
Get him out and put him in a container with only some white kitchen towel, a little moist ofcourse.
Most of the times they will start pooping not long after putting them in.
If he stays lethargic, a better idea then forcefeeding might be giving him some extra energy by soaking him in a saline/glucose solution.
This saline/glucose solution should be 0,9%.
You can make this by getting 1 L of warm water and put in 9 grams of Natriumchloride (just table salt is fine, as long as it doesn't contain iodine)
and 9 grams of glucose (or sugar if glucose isn't readily available).
Mix it in good, and let it settle to reach room temperature.
Put in you're frog for about 10-15 minutes.
You might do this in preparation of poop collection as well
Thanks Gif, Don and Wesley,
Ian - keep us posted !

Hopefully everything is ok! Keep a close eye on him. Sending a stool sample is a good idea. You can at least eliminate the possibility of parasites. You may be able to find a local vet that will run the tests for you even if they don't treat amphibians (parasites are parasites). You can just drop off the stool sample and they test. It costs a lot less than a vet visit.. maybe $10-20, depending on the vet and whether they do the test in-house or send them out. It can give you piece of mind, cost less than a vet visit, and doesn't stress your frog out. Trips to the vet are stressful for frogs; if there is a serious problem then of course you should take him to the vet. But often it is hard to tell. I often worry about my frogs, especially after my pacman Grif became ill. I keep a close eye on my frogs and watch for any changes in behavior, appetite, environment, etc. It is often hard to make the call of whether a vet visit is in order. Go with your instinct. No one knows your frog better than you!
I also sympathize with the difficulty of finding a vet that will treat amphibians. When Grif became ill, it took me two days of frantic searching to find a vet (even though I live in a big city) and another two days before they had an appointment available. It is a very good idea to at least have a vet who treats amphibians lined up should you ever need one.
I hope Kriby gets better! Please keep us posted!
Ya that cricket was one of the bigger ones on there. If they get bigger than the distance between Kirby's eyes I usually take them out, dust them, and put them in our lizards cage. That cricket I think just looks big in picture. The really small ones can almost fit the through the miss! Lol
So ya I always keep an eye on crickets.
So should I change his substrate to white paper towels? So it might be easier to find poop? I might give him a warm bath before like some ppl said....
Thanks everyone for the help!
