The paper towel set up is often used for quarantined or sick animals. It makes it easier to control their environment and monitor them. You know for sure when they poop or if they eat their food (nowhere for the crickets to hide). It can be a little stressful for them having their environment changed though. The warm soak is definitely a good idea. I usually give mine a good soak once a week. It keeps them clean and gets off any left over shed. They know when it's bath-time, lol!

A lot of Tfee frog owners will use moist paper towels as substrate to monitor poop and also because its easy clean up. I don't think he needs to be quarentined right now. How is the vet trip coming? Did you get an appointment yet?
