Exclamation Sick whites tree frog! plz help

My whites who up until this morning has been normal for the last 6 years I've owned her (I assume she was young when I got her, but who knows) isn't right. She was in her water this am, not normal for her (usually in her cave by 9) , and when I went to pick her up she just sort of flopped. Didn't go into her froggy form. Her skin was dry. I gave her new water, and tried to splash some on her. I put her in her spot and left her alone for most of the day- she did have 1 live cricket in with her. Now she's still not eating, is in her corner, doesn't look up when I open her cage and now she's SHAKING. Which is really scary, and I feel so bad for her. I heard lamisil? Could be fungal?

Q's- is she too far gone to treat? Can frogs be humanely euthanized by a vet? If I can treat her, what with? Any other thoughts???

So sorry that your frog is ill. I don't have an answer for treating your frog, a pic might help someone see something.

Yes, a vet might have an answer to what is wrong with him/her and can euthanize if needed.
If you want to euthanize him/her you can apply neosporin with benzocaine painkiller on the back. The benzocaine is what kills them is a very humane way to put them down.

I hope things change for the better and again, so sorry :-(

If your frog is weak and you are not positive that its chytrid you will only make him weaker. The chytrid treatment is stressful and stress can wear down your frog and make him worse. Instead try to soak him in luke warm de-chlorinated water with 3 drops of honey disolved in the water. Make sure its no deeper than up to your frogs chin. Only do this once. Soak the frog for 5 to 10 minutes. This will also be stressful but doesn't involve chemicals. Also you should take him to a vet. You need to be sure what is wrong so that he can be given proper treatment. Try the warm honey bath and keep us posted.

Below is some different thoughts that may spark something that may have occurred:

Have you been providing gut loaded crickets and calcium supplement over the years?

Any chance she at something foreign such an insect other than crickets?

Any chance of handling after using some type of cleaners or disinfectant on your's or another's hands?

I feel bad I can not provide a positive answer for you and hope she/he gets better.

    Also, a pic might help

She's been eating the same brand crickets from pet smart for the last 6 years. and no I don't supplement them- but yesterday I did by some vit to sprinkle on them but she isn't eating.

No other insects in her cage besides the crickets I put there.

And no one has handled her in weeks. The only time I ever touch her is to move her so I can give her her water- and I always rinse my hands.

Question- do frogs this sick EVER get better?

She is actually holding her head up now, but still shaking and looking pretty crappy. I'll go take a pic and post it.

I wouldn't treat her with lamisil, that is something that requires the firm knowledge of chytid. That treatment, from what I hear (and Grif has stated), is very stressful.
