I have a couple of questions...

First of all, I have the option of bringing home two more WTFs from a customer. They have had them for about three years and the gal bought them for her granddaughter who no longer lives in the state. She just wants them gone from her house. Would four WTFs be too many in a 24x18x18 Exo-Terra terrarium? I would much rather take them and give them a good home instead of letting them just sit at this gal's house.

My second question has to do with moss types. I was looking at either getting Zilla's Beaked Moss or ZooMed's Terrarium Moss to mix in with my substrate (I pulled out all 50lbs. of gravel that was being used as my drainage layer -- realized that it was too heavy to move afterwards). Does anyone have any experience with either of these types of moss? Preferences? Looking at getting leaf litter here in a couple of days from Josh's Frogs to cover my substrate...

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

First off, take the frogs :-) I had 4 in a 18x18x24(tall) Exo and they were just fine. If you look at my photo albums you'll see the tank with some bromeliads and snake plants which gave them tons of climbing and perching spots.

Yeah, 50 lbs of gravels is a lot.
Hyroballs at about 1 to 1/2 inch would be more than enough and if your tanks 24 inch length then 3 bags is more than enough.

I only use moss under the top layer for some moisture retention. I don't chance Whites swallowing anything that may knot up or not pass normally since I had to pull 6 inches of sphagnum from a small whites. Not fun, sad for the frog, and remember that if it gets in their mouth, they swallow it.

I like Plantation Soil, then Eco-Earth after that. Leaf Liter is the way to go with your Whites, keeps the dirt off and is fairly inexpensive.

I'd say yes as well, I have 4 Red eyes in the same size tank as mentioned. Granted two of mine are adult and the other two are only about an inch, and I believe red eyes don't get as big as whites. I think you will make give them a good home

Don - I am no surprised at your response. I have been thinking about it for a couple of days now and I am biting the bullet. I MUST have more frogs. My family can't understand my little obsession. Haha. I killed my bromeliad (oops!), but am thinking of ordering some nice ones here when the weather warms up at bit. Right now I have a pothos in there which has probably doubled in size since I planted it in the tank. Not sure if I want to do the Hydroballs in my tank...was thinking about doing the false bottom if I can find the egg crate at a good price. And thanks for the information on the moss! I will keep that in mind when re-doing my substrate the next time around.

Shanny - Jealous that you have RETFs. I would like to get some, but not ready for that kind of commitment. Hehe.

Really? They're not as hard as everyone makes them out to be, though I do not recommend them for beginners.
I say the above statement, but at the same time, my red eyes were my first frogs. Although I've kept tiger salamanders, small lizards, fish, I also did a TON of research on many different frogs before I decided to get my red eyes. Then this past November I took in two baby red eyes from horrible conditions at a pet shop. I was amazed I could get the one to make it cuz it didn't look good for him/her. But they are growing.

Eggcrate is available at Home Depot and Lowes. Average price for a sheet should be about 12 bucks.
You will find it in the lighting section at Lowes and I found it in the insulation section at my local Home depot.

Eggcrate is used for dept in ceiling and as the louvers of a lighting fixture.

Shanny - Well, I can be a little forgetful at times and I don't think the Red Eyes would be very forgiving. I could be wrong... I ended up getting my frogs from the pet store I work at. Luckily they have me here to look out for them...I've sold quite a few of them since I now own the WTFs myself. We have a vet tech. on staff, so she's pretty good at figuring out if something is wrong.

Don - Thanks for the tip. Everyone that I have talked to about egg crate says that it is super expensive. Glad to know it is not as expensive as they say it is.
