Hey
went to my Nans the other day and I found a few frogs that were under some logs and metal drums so I thought I'd share some pictures(I also found I snake but he ran off to quickly before I could take a picture)
These are Eastern banjo frogs or Pobblebonks (Limnodynastes dumerili )
Two pobblebonks buried under a metal drum that I lifted up, with Spotted Marsh frogs in the background
These are Spotted marsh frogs or spotted grass frogs (Limnodynastes tasmaniensis)
you can kind of see the top of a pobblebonk buried in this one
A spotted marsh frog with no stripe down his back,
Thanks for looking, and sorry if the pictures aren't so good, I just got a new camera that day so I hadn't really figured out how to use it, haha![]()
That's great Kristen! Great photos! I wonder why they're called Banjo frogs.....do their calls resemble the banjo?

Thanks Autumn
and I have no clue why they're called that, but I do know why they're called Pobblebonks, Cause their call is kind of a "bonk" heres a link with they're call on it Frogs Australia Network - Australian Frog Database - Limnodynastes dumerilii - Eastern Banjo Frog , and the frog that I found is not the one in the picture, I found Limnodynastes dumerilii insularis, (a sub-species)![]()
great to see you got to the Frogs before the snake did![]()
Nice frogs Kristen! Thanks for sharing pics and links.
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog!
I LOVE the call!!
same, but at five in the morning when thousands are competing with eachother it gets LOUD, haha
