    I use a flash light to view and take pics of mine. I keep the light from hitting them in the eyes also.
    I don't think using a flash would be good in their eyes when its dark in the tank :-)

    My frogs are also next to my computer so the light off the screen doesn't seem to bother them and I often catch them sitting looking out at the screen.

    I would wait a few weeks at least.

    You can probably peek in at night to check him out but I wouldn't try too much light until he/she settles in and doesn't run off at the 1st sight of you.
