    Default new frog owner questions

hey there! Im new to the entire frog community, I have just gotten a 3 month old whites tree frog about a week ago and named him Monty. With most things you are new too you have plenty of questions about it. the major concern that I am worried about right now is feeding him. I have crickets that I am feeding Flunkers calcium rich food and Monty has no problem eating them ( never had a problem feeding him since I have gotten him ), I am just wondering how many times a week i should feed him. I have heard feed him 10 crickets once or twice a week or I have also heard feeding him a couple crickets every night works. I want the healthiest thing for my frog and was wondering how much his feeding schedule will affect him. Right now I am feeding him a couple crickets every night, please let me know if this wrong or right and if I will be able to maybe change this with out affecting my frog too much.

Well if you have a small enough tank, or he's just really active/hungry, you can feed him 10-15 crickets a week. That's what I do

And btw it Flukers not flunkers lol

Congrats on your baby! Just don't over feed him! So many people think its cute to have a really fat dumpy, they are known for being little chubbers but it causes more problems then anything. I feed my adult Whites, 1 cricket (Large) every other day dusted with Calcium powder. You will also know when he is hungry, they do like a 360 when you walk in the room lol!

Did yours do that when it was a baby?

How do you get them to hand feed?

Yea he did when I would walk up the to cage, I use to just throw them in there and he would eat them. It was about 10 years ago when I started to hand feed him. I wear gloved because I am a huge wuss about touching crickets hahah. I just dust them, hold them where a little more than the head is out and bump his mouth till he opens. Works like a charm and I know he ate, instead of searching through the tank if he ate it. And I know he gets the calcium supplement he needs Its funny though, he still will follow me around the tank when he is read to eat, so cute!

i have two whites (who are only little maybe about 6-8 months old-bit older than urs) and i tend to feed them every other day, i put in about 6-10 crickets dependin on the size (small atm). if i feel they are eatin too much i will miss a day or just feed them less. i can tell if i am givin them too much as ill find dead crickets on the floor that they havent eaten. i calcium dust them maybe about a third of the time. ull get used to ur frog once uv had it a bit longer and will b able to tell the habbits and appetite of ur frog and how much u should b feeding him. plus like some of the other members have said ur frog will let u know in his own lil way if hes still hungry lol. good luck with ur new frog
