Hello Frog forum.
I am interested in getting a frog/toad of some kind but I am struggling to find the best one for me. I want to chose beween African dwarf frogs, Firebellied toads (frogs) and a green treefrog. I am away sometimes for two weeks at a time and I am fine with bugs. This is my first frog so it needs to be easy, Terrarium ideas would be welcome to! A ten gallon is my limit at first with roughly 2-3 frogs in Thx!!!
Welcome to the Forum!
Firstly, it will be impossible to keep an amphibain if you will be away for two weeks at a time, they need to be fed daily or two to three times a week (depending on the frog/toad). You will need to have someone to feed it while you are away.
Secondly, you should follow the rule of thumb of 1 frog/toad per 10 gallons, this rule dosen't spply to FBT's, but most other amphibians.
A good starter frog is a Pacman frog, they are relitevely low maintenance, have basic care needs, and are not picky eaters. You can house a Pacman frog in a 10 gallon for it's entire life, but the more space you can give it, the better!

Thanks for the help I think I might go with firbelly toads thou, my friend has no trouble feeding them calcium covered mealworms they can handle the shell fine.
Meal worms should not be fed as a staple, they may handle them fine, but their hard shell can cause impaction, and their strong bite can also be a problem, they are meant as a treat only. Good choice with the FBT's, but they should have a staple food such as crickets or live blood worms, not mealworms.
ok thank you for the advice I will be posting pictures of my new FBT's when I get them in due course!
