Sick White's Tree Frog...please help!

Hello all! I think I have a sick frog. For the past few days he has done nothing but lay in his water bowl, rarely leaving. Any ideas on what may be causing this?

It sounds as though you may have low humidity levels in your frog's Vivarium. Could you please post a photo of it's set-up?

What do you keep the humidity level at? What do you keep the temperature at?

Has your frog still been eating?

There are two frogs. We've had them for about 2 years and both were purchased together. One is fine, alert, eyes clear, green, etc. The frogs still seem to be eating. On their next feeding they'll be fed separately to make sure. The sick one is brown, a little lethargic and seems to keep his extra eyelids over his eyes and hasn't left his water bowl unless I take him out. He then goes back on his own. He doesn't seem swollen, and doesn't seem to be losing weight. You can see him in the water bowl when you look at the pictures. Right now the temperature is about 72 and the humidity is between 65 & 70.. in the "moderate" level on the gauge. The habitat is misted a couple times a day and the plant in the back right is a live plant. Thanks for any help!

I'd get him out of the dish and do a water change. When was the last time you saw him eat anything? Remember that they do look chubby from soaking and absorbing in the water.

Do you have both in the water dish together some times? They should be able to.
Where do you find them sleeping mostly? It should be on branches or attached to a large leaf normally.

I clean out the water dish and give them new water every other day, or every day depending on how much water is in there. And I mist each day. I last fed them on Saturday, there are still crickets in there for both to eat.

The bowl is large enough for both, however I never see them in the bowl together. Most of the time they sleep on the back wall or inside the rock cave, however this one has been in the water bowl when I go to bed and when I wake up. He hasn't moved out of it much, just seems to be lounging in there.

Hey I was searching for a post similar to my problem I found this.

My juvenile WTF, Kirby, is doing the same thing, only he's alone in his cage. He's not very active, sort of dark, and hangs out on the ground/water bowl for long periods of time. He used to go everywhere. Not sure of hes eating, sorta skinny not too much. Idk about feces.

Humidity is always 50-60%, temp usually around 75 day, 70 night. He has a day lamp for light and a lil heat. He has zoo med frog moss on top of coco fiber. Always fresh water, treated with jurassi-safe. Got lots of space to climb, sticks vines fake plants.

Only problem is that I just started treating water around Christmas. I've had Kirby (not sure if male or female yet) since September and have used
well water. (no chlorine or chloramine). Unfortunately I discovered it had ammonia in it when our goldfish started getting black sploches and died :/. Even though we treated its water.....

Anyway I need some help on what to do. I'm getting sort of worried. Can I give him a little bit honey in his water? Should I quarantine him? Will that even work since he's alone?

Usually when I clean his cage he's in a quarantine like container. It's a screen covered glass bowl with lil water on bottom, leaf or stick etc, and a cricket. He doesn't eat the cricket.

You can try the Honey or Pedialite to induce some activity which some info on using either is below:
For the honey heat a bath of water to 80 degrees, melt a few drops of honey (there is no exact measurement for this, just a drop of honey per ounce of water) and let the water cool a little before bathing your frog. For the electrolytes, lots of people use unflavored pedialite (which is what I use). Stay away from the flavored stuff, no telling what that has in it. Unflavored pedialite looks like water and has barely any taste. Drop this in warm water (mid-70s or room temp) at a 10/1 ratio (10 water, 1 pedialite, so like...10 ounces of water, one ounce of pedialite) and mix it in, then give the frog a bath for 10-20 minutes to let it soak in the nutrients.

I wouldn't move him but you need to see that he is eating so when you feed watch for him to eat. You can also have a fecal exam done by taking some of the Frogs droppings to a herp vet and have the vet check your frog over.
Does your frogs move around the tank at all? Soaking is usually a sign of humidity issue so check to make sure your hydrometer is working properly. They are not the most accurate things. 50 - 60 percent is a good place to be with WTFs.

Ok I'm going to try honey. And usually he eats at night if he were to eat. I'm going to try recording him sometime...

I know his humidity is good because the moss is damp, so are sticks.

I don't have a vet for him yet so I will try to find one.

And he will move around the tank every once in awhile. Could it just be the weather and pressure? I'm not sure... I'm just confused lol

Ok as of right now he has been in that same corner for about a day and a half if not more.... Unless he moves at night and moves back in morning? But I am going to put a cricket bowl in his tank and give him a honey bath later today. I really hope this helps!

You can take him out for the honey bath. Make sure its luke warm and the water isnt too deep. Should be up to his chin. I wouldn't do the honey bath in his enclosure or his own water dish. Take him out and place him in a large bowl. Hopefully it gives him the pick me up and thats all he needs otherwise you'll need to speed the vet trip up.

Your forg will usually find a single place to go back to and sleep. Since he/she is nocturnal, the activity is going to be when the lights are out.
You should see the glass smudged up some and if feeding from a bowl, then some crickets gone in the morning.

Keep in mind that a new frog needs to settle in so the less we disturb them the sooner they will settle in. My Red Eyed Leaf/Tree Frogs took weeks before I saw them move around at night and night lighting actually made them shy away from activity.

Well I've had him since mid-August? About half a year. So I did a post on my honey bath and will keep everyone updated so I'll be posting there.

I haven't tried a bowl yet, I can't find right size but I'm trying....
