Note: had to create 2nd account, 1st (froggermcm) wouldn't work.
Been a while but some members may remember me from Fat Frogs, etc. Just posting some pics of some of the pyxies, mostly imports from Philippe de Vosjoli, I've owned... past and present. I'm now looking to buy adults for breeding, so pm details.
First up are some females (mostly imports):
Blue female:
Next is a big dark male I bought for $15 at a show and raised to beasthood. He once ate a flying-age robin (stupid judgement call on my part but it was a while ago).
This is (imported) Jabba, of Youtube fame.
Finally, the most massive, pugnacious pyxie I've owned... a 9+ inch behemoth who unfortunately died during a breeding attempt. I owned him till age 4, and would have to guess his weight at 3.5 lb at his peek. He was lime green and his jaws were so powerful they shut with an audible "clap" during feeding... a true monster.
I have huge hands (they were skinnier and less hairy then but still same length so this actually makes him seem smaller than in real life:
Beatiful frogs you have their! He's a handsome thing.
Very nice Pyxies. That last male is pretty massive. Its a shame he passed
why did the big male die after 4 years? nice bullfrogs.
Chomp,
You'll sustain inevitable deaths during breeding attempts. Best you can do is minimize them. I've nailed down the process now, and have many new techniques I plan to implement this time around.
Nice frogs, like the bluish female and the deceased huge male.
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !
Great looking frogs. How long did it take for the 9 inch male to get so big?
Peachy,
I'd say he was that long by 2.5 yrs. and filled out more after that.
Looks like you take good care of your frogs. I hope you have success breeding, especially with that blue female. Are you looking to sell froglets? I would love to buy more pixie frogs.
I will be selling them if they produce. Mostly wholesale but I'd give everybody here first pick/special price. That's a big if.
Those frogs in that first picture are females? They have massive heads lol. Just wondering. Beautiful frogs.
Oh and are you looking for males or females for you're projects. shoot me a PM, I am male heavy as hell at the moment.
Wow, you have had some amazing frogs.
how do males die during breeding?
Amazing pyxies.
Amazing amount of white Jabba has on his back. And I just love everything about the big guy, he is among one of my favorite pyxies to date.
Thanks,
To clarify, I'm looking for both male and female pyxies. Especially imports. The big one died when he surfaced partway through brumation and instead of seeking water, sat still and died within a day or two (I checked them daily, but was away for a day). Substrate by that point was totally dry.
damn. what a **** way to lose 1
Mikey,
These imports have massive heads. That, coupled with the fact that I kept the females semi-lean makes their heads appear somewhat masculine. If you look at overhead pic of blue girl, you'll see that, while the head itself is large, it still has an overall female shape (short, tapering snout).
Hey, nice bullfrogs you have there im loving them females well impressed by far the most prettiest ive ever seen. And you rbig guy is the mirror image of my big guy..
thanks
Thanks Deejay, you Brits grow some awesome big phibs. Hopefully I'll have a sizeable group shortly, and can put together a solid breeding.
