Hi All,
I am new to the forum. I am from the U.K and am in the process (i.e I am picking them up next week) of getting a pair of American Green Tree Frogs. I have been and done the Guinea Pig breading for 5 years, then moved on to Geckos of which currently I have 7 and I know quite a lot about and want to expand my collection of pets to Frogs. I have had stick insects, which were dead easy to keep and had up to thirty at one stage. But since they all died off a year ago, my 18x12x12 exoterra tank has reamained empty. So I thought of getting into frogs (and maybe at a later stage Anoles). I have totally cleaned, scrubbed, antibacterialezed (if that's a word?) and the tank is ready. I have done some background research on what I need but just need some basic suggestions, must-not's, must-do's etc. I am getting a pair of American Green Tree Frogs as research tells me this is the best type to get when a beginner. I will be going for an Aboreal setup (that's me sounding like I know what I'm talking about lol) so I have a heatmat which will be fixed to the side of the tank (outside) for warmth and air temperature. Just about to order a Hygrometer for humidity etc. I am not sure of what substrate I will use. I don't want to use any sand as, with geckos, this can cause impaction, so any ideas? Do I put a water dish in? Are artificial plants just as good as real plants? Is vermicuilte better than using moss etc. Any help and tips would be great!
Thanks,
Mark.
