I keep reading that poeple will put their frogs in quarintine. I understand it for sick frogs, so you can help the one that's ill and keep the others frog/s getting sick. My question is h, do you have to do this before putting them in the tank for the first time? Say you get them can you put them in or do you have to quarintine them first? Or is this just for when your adding a new frog to the fam (or if their sick of course)? just wondering..![]()
People will usually quarantine frogs if they are introducing them into a tank already inhabited by other specimens. It is a good idea to make sure your specimen does not contain diseases or parasites.
What you should do is get a small, plastic enclosure. Line the bottom with moss, coconut fiber or moist paper towels (if it is a tree frog). If you notice any abnormalities in your frog, medicate it or get it to a vet. If your frog shows that he is eating and going to the bathroom on a regular basis, then the frog should be okay to be introduced to the main tanks.
ok, so what is regular bathroom going for a tree frog? And thanks frognerd!
I am not totally sure how often they go to the bathroom, because it depends on the age, species, temperature and humidity, but you should find some sort of fecal matter within a couple of days after you feed it.
You are very welcome and good luck with your frog![]()
