Hi, i dont know if this is the right place for this, but i was just wondering if a brita filter removes all the bad things and makes the water ok to use with my pacman frog? On the box it says it has activated carbon with ion resin.
I would imagine it would be ok but it isnt preferred. Just to be safe I would allow the filtered water to sit out a day or two in a container to allow any remaining chlorine to evaporate.
No it does not. It does not remove amonia or chlorimines which also can't be removed through boiling. It is better to treat your water with a conditioner/de-chlorinator. I wouldn't try it.
ok, thanks guys, i am currently treating my water with prime, so if i filter the water through the brita filter and then boil it, that would be ok?
Depends the type of chlorine your water company uses.
Here is a good post on tap water from Mike: http://www.frogforum.net/vivarium-te...html#post61198
Here is another great post on water and what sources should be used for what purpose.

If your water has chloramines you have to use a conditioner. Filters like Brita only take particulate matter and heavy metals out. Boiling water will only sterilize it (if boiled for 10 min.) and maybe add some ions and chemicals from container walls. Good luck!
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog!
What does everyone think about this?
"ADI- Tap Water Conditioner"
This is what I have been using. It's quite easy- only 1 drop per gallon.
Actually, I use it after filling a gallon container of water that has been filled at the tap that has a brita faucet filter on it.
Tap Water Conditioner
about 9$ for 16 ounces - it lasts forever - also using it for weekly water changes in 2- 60 gallons fish tanks
However- I'm using distilled water in the "Mist King" bucket.
What is everyone opinion about distilled in the mister bucked ?

Conditioner works instantly.
Distilled water is good for your misting system and is nice for not leaving spots on the glass.
Thanks again Don, for the confirmation !
It certainly must be strong stuff.
I fill a few empty gallon containers at a time, and
always shrug my shoulders when I put one tiny little drop in each
container !
It's always great to be able get a consensus of opinions on FF

This thread should probably be moved to the Viv/enclosure discussion topic area ?
However, I suppose visitors and memberswould find it if searching, regardless.
