So heat lamps are only effective up to 12 inches? That's good to know.
Some are stronger and have more distance like the bulbs with a concentrated beam. These bulbs are more effective at heating the ambient air within your tank and when combined with a dimmer switch their effectiveness is able to be controled so you get the temps you need without actually harming your frog. As with any heat bulb though I always reccomend some plant cover since they like to hide away from lit areas. I talking about incandescents ofcourse. You can't use fluorescents with a lamp that has a dimmer switch. They aren't made for them.
