The best aquatic plants to use

2012 sees another dartfrog project, just need to find some tropical aqautic plants that
will thrive in 5 inches of water, any ideas anyone

depending upon the look that you are going for I would suggest java moss, java fern, or anubia, all of which can and will grow out of the water, like a bog plant. All of which are also low light plants and can be grown tied to rocks or driftwood. And all are readily available just about anywhere.
