    Default Is Kirby getting lethargic?

(this first paragraph is just info on kirby so if you dont need it just go to second paragrah)

I've had Kirby for a few months now and I feed him 15 crickets a week in a 10 gallon long (first cage lol) he has plants and moss and climbing space, a little still pond, a bonsai hiding thing. His humidity hovers around 60-80%. Temp is 70-80 degrees F.

I don't see him eat, (yet at the end of week almost all crickets are gone). He stays in same spot for long periods of time just sleeping, even at night! Usually on a vine, sometimes in his pond. I'll see him in morning, same spot that day, same spot at night, same spot next morning. This happens a little to often. Sometimes he's a little active, but not often. Is he lethargic? In just getting a little worried and want to know if it's normal and if not, what I should do....

    Plz help!

    Thanks!

What is Kirby? If he is a red-eyed leaf frog, then this is normal.

I don’t think he is lethargic; my Whites acts similarly to how you described…..staying in the same spot for long periods of time. I’ve noticed also that my WTF becomes a bit “lazier” during the winter months…..he usually sleeps a bit longer than usual or during the summer. Haha, I even remember seeing him in the same spot, for what I thought was 4 days straight! But, what occurred was this: he awoke when everyone in the house was asleep and returned to the exact same location when morning came; thus the situation made seem as if he did not move at all lol :P.

I know what a lethargic frog looks like and how one behaves, believe me…..it’s worrisome!!

Haha welcome . Yup, they sure do hibernate !

And the way Wood frogs hibernate is just amazing....they freeze completely solid. Though I don't let my Woodies hibernate, too many things that could go wrong lol o.o.

Haha, sorry....I usually get overly excited about the Wood frog (they are my favorite frog species lol).

I'm not entirely sure if Whites hibernate......I know that they go under a period of "sluggishness" for about 6 weeks in the wild; this could be equivalent to hibernation.

No way, you've actually seen frozen ones in the wild!!! I've only seen ones mating, calling, as eggs, heck I've even took samples from Wood frog tadpoles to help a scientist test them for the Chytrid Fungus.....I've never seen one frozen before!!! You are truly blessed to have gotten to see something as such!
