Welcome to the forum!![]()
Hello everyone,
I am a 21yr old college student in SoCal. I have grown up with fish tanks all my life and have a 60 gallon planted community tank. I had always seen and heard about planted terrariums and with some spare holiday vacation time, a 40 gallon tank i used for breeding discus, and some aquarium lighting i decided that i was going to finally make my terrarium. I now have the substrate, background, and rough layout( although i am still messing around with some branches and moss, which someone might be able to tell me if i have any chance of getting this sphagnum to regrow). Sometime this week i am going to get a majority of the plants for the tank and get the layout somewhat finalized. But now that i have described the tank i should probably tell you all that i am looking to get dart frogs, most likely D. tinctorius or auratus in a 1:3 ratio or 2 pair depending on availability at my reptile store.
I hope i can find some good knowledge from experienced frogger's on here and if anyone has any beginner tips to throw out there i would be very grateful.
Thanks,
Micro

Welcome to the forum and nice start btw!
Welcome to Frog Forum Micro! I do not keep Dart's yet; but have found lot's of good information in their section at forum.
When kept very wet some mosses return to life. Just make sure it's OK with frogs you decide to keep; sphagnum is an impaction risk for one's I keep.
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog!
ok so i just went and picked up my plants! I cataloged them and here they are in the tank. What do you all think?
Welcome aboard.
I would cover your supstrate with leaf litter, which you can get from either Black Jungle (blackjungle.com) or Josh's Frogs (joshsfrogs.com). The leaves they carry do not break down so quickly and are nontoxic. The leaf litter will look nice, keep substrate from sticking to your frogs, provide hiding places for both frog and prey items, and keep your frog from tracking substrate into the water bowl.
Also, your sphagnum is very much dead. It's not going to grow. Sorry.
ok well i now have everything planted, stapled, wrapped and what noti will be getting leaf litter and a few small leafed creeping plants to put down as well. few more plants, leaf litter, a coconut home, and then the frogs
