    Default Indroducing moss

    Hey all,
My frog hasn't used any kind of moss since about 14 years ago and I was wondering if it would be a bad idea if I put it back into his tank? His humidity level needs to be up big time. I have only used plain white paper on the bottom with his water bowl and some cave things for years, now that he is older (15 yrs old) he is changing a bit. He has decided not to eat and I am thinking this might be his problem. He has been under the care of a vet since November and she is stumped. Nothing major that we can see and test has been wrong with him.

What kind of moss were you thinking of introducing? I've heard sphagnum moss is not the greatest as white's dive bomb their food and could possibly consume some (unless of course you hand feed, then that's not a concern and sphagnum works very well for maintaining humidity).
I currently use coco fiber (the very fine stuff) and live oak leaf litter on top of that. My frogs seem very happy at the moment with this substrate. I live in high desert New Mexico so humidity is also a concern for me. The coco fiber seems to contain moisture very well...

I bought Zilla's Beaked Moss. Apparently many people rated this as 4.6 out of 5 and its pretty common to use. I put only half of the moss in his cage and sprayed that, humidity went up tonight. I finally was able to feed him a cricket. I hand feed him. So I am keeping my fingers crossed! Thank you for the advice!
