Earlier today while my adult red eye tree frogs were asleep, I rearranged there terrarium and added a vine and bromeliad and then put my baby red eye, Mint into the terrarium. He quickly found a place on the back wall to sleep.
Mint is the bigger of my two babies, I decided to leave Speckles in the smaller terrarium on his own, at least until he proves to me that he can find food and gets bigger.
I'm happy to report that my adults seem to not even notice Mint. They went after crickets and left him alone. When I saw Mint looking at the crickets I decided to add a few small ones for him and he caught one after another :-)
So I definitely know he knows which crickets to go after and he already seems comfortable with his new surroundings.
I'm hoping in the next couple of weeks that baby Speckles will start catching up so he can join the others!
Thats great Mint is eating, definitely sign that he is not stressed and happy in his new home. What is the size difference?
Glad your frogs are doing well together! Just be careful to keep big ones well fed if Mint fits in their mouths.
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog!
Yeah, I was surprised to see him eat right away the first night, I mean he/she did not hesitate at all
Bitty and Skitty are 2inches, well bitty is just under the 2inch mark, and Mint is at an inch. He has been holding steady at an inch for at least a month now... I was just holding off of putting him in because I was hoping that Speckles would catch up and then I could have introduced them both into the terrarium at the same time.
I decided to put Mint in yesterday because I noticed it seemed he had been not exploring the temporary 20gal I had them in anymore. But I was very happy to see he was so active in his new home.
I made sure I put him in this weekend also because I have weekends off work so I know I could come in and check on them whenever I wanted to and intervene if needed.
It was cute because when he did get down on the ground he kept flicking his legs because the substrate was sticking to him a bit. He went from damp paper towel to the real thing.
My adults did this also because before I got my exo terra, I had them in a 29gal that had moss as substrate.
I just thot it was funny
this is mint down on the ground...
And this is one of my adults, Bitty, last night..

Awe! What a cutie! He should be fine. And he seems to be adjusting well.
, my retf did that too! Ha ha! It was funny! Stickers kept lifting one leg after another. They catch most of the crickets towards the bottom of the tank, so I added a few decent sized rocks to stand on
. They feed from the rocks all of the time now. Lol!!! Cute! Must feel like when we have gum stuck to our shoe, ha ha!!!
